JORDYN'S ARMY
Ok, so from the outset let me say that this will be a whistle stop review of each of the books in the anthology, not because I don’t have a lot to say that I don’t have a lot to say, quite the opposite I have so much I could say that if I waffled on for half as long as I usually do you would be reaching for the Vodka!
I must first applaud each and every one of the contributing authors, this was a Tour de Force and you smashed it! Fabulous work for a totally worthwhile cause.
So here we go:
Fighting for Our Forever....Baby style
This was a delight by the sensational Heidi Mclaughlin, all the main characters from the series were present and each brought back their own little bit of magic. I would say you don’t really have to have read all the books in the series to get the gist of what this is all about but in all honesty…why wouldn’t you have these characters are ones you do not want to miss.
Fantastic read, great to keep up with everyone and to welcome a new arrival- 4.5 Stars
Pure Rose
I am a huge Kathy Coopmans fan, so reading this was total joy! Two fantastic primary characters who each had life experiences that could have for all intents and purposes kept them at arm’s length.
I loved the dynamic that they were both single parents and the complexities that that brought to the situation. They fought hard to avoid the inevitable but, in the end, chemistry does its own thing…luckily! A great read – thoroughly enjoyable – 4.5 Stars
Waking Up to Forever
Amy Briggs is a new to me author and I will admit that I liked the story, it just wasn’t my favourite of the anthology. A clever reincarnation of a fairy-tale this had everything you would expect and a little bit more – 3 Stars
Crush
Adriana Locke, you smashed it! Totally knocked it out the park, I was aghast by the time I got to the end. Sensational!! – Fantastic 5 Stars!
Love, Rose
Another new to me author, I will admit now that Shari J. Ryan has a new fan because this was so much more than a short story, heck I have no idea show she managed to get so much into those relatively few pages. It was angsty, it was classy, it had it all and I ran through every emotion I had, I was sure that I was going to be left hanging but nope, the author played her trump card and by the end I was suitably sated. Loved it – 5 stars.
Reunion
Julie A. Richman knows how to take her readers on a journey and for much of this I wasn’t exactly sure either what way the story was going or more to the point whether I would like it when it got there. But the author kept the surprises coming and I couldn’t help but become invested. These were characters that I took to heart. Knockout – 4.5 Stars
Coming Home
I’ve read practically everything written by this author and if you haven’t read HJ Bellus before you are in for a treat because she makes sure you know what it is like to fall in love with her characters. This was a real journey, a lesson learned that not everything goes the way you want it to go but that you roll with the punches and make the best of what you have. I loved Annie, and I am sure you will too.
Favourite story of the whole anthology – 5 Amazing Stars
Roses for Rachel
Sam JD Hunt gave me a story that I can honestly say I hadn’t expected and for most of the read wasn’t actually sure that I liked. It was different, who people brought together under totally unique circumstances with more than a little help from their dearly departed…quirky - 3 stars
Finley and Sebastian, Wages of Sin series
I finished this desperately looking for more! Tara Leigh gave me a story that I just didn’t want to end. I haven’t read much by this author before and I haven’t really read much of the series…that will change now! I thought Sebastian and Finley were brilliant. – keep a fan handy ladies – this is a steamy one! – 4 Stars
Whiskey & Roses
Kaylee Ryan, an easy read that didn’t task the brain cells but certainly touch my soul. The characters we easy to fall for and the author certainly knows how to pitch a wedding! - 4 stars
Where I Escape
Michelle Dare, I knew nothing of these characters before I started their story but that didn’t hold back the enjoyment of the story, the story gave the feeling of history, the fact that the character shad a deep-seated connection that they were ready to unleash. I liked that about them, the fact that they weren’t an instant thing and that there was a solidity about not just them but how they were together – fab 4.5 stars
Capturing Tomorrow- Kingsley Series
Again, the joy of an anthology…another new to me author. A fun frolic on a bachelorette weekend. Super funny and highly entertaining- 3.5 Stars
Coming Up Roses
This was by Michelle Windsor and I can honestly say that I thought it was Ok, it had potential to be better (in my opinion) but that being said I certainly wouldn’t be put off air travel - 3 stars
Line 39
Verlene Landon I can say no more about Line 39, Lena and Rue other than I WANT MORE!!!!- 4.5 Stars
Mine to Protect
Military romance, a genre that I have always gravitated towards and whilst this story by Kristin Mayer had what I was looking for generally, I would have liked a little more – greedy I know but you know how it is! – 3.75 Stars
The Way We Fell
A super sweet and seriously sexy read from the fabulous MJ Fields. – 4 Stars
Ring Me
What a way to complete the anthology, this was truly fabulous. If you haven’t read any of this authors’ works then I would say…why? Rebecca Brooke is not to be missed and Jaded Ivory is a an absolutely must…you should check it out! 4 stars
