I think this is most definitely the start of what looks like being a great series. The authors writing style seemed to suit my reading pattern to a tee and that meant that I was quickly able to get to grips with not just the moody delight that was Austin but also the rest of his uniquely dysfunctional family. He had a lot to deal with and much of it was family related and much of it wasn’t of his own doing and in that respect, I had to respect the effort he was willing to expend on behalf of others.

Austin’s past isn’t one that has been easy, and it also isn’t one that hasn’t left a mark, but he is doing his best and in that it was obvious that he had could understand the pressures faced by single mom Rachel. She was doing everything she could just to survive each day, to be able to keep her head above water and to ensure that both her son, and her mother had everything that she could give them…which as you would expect wasn’t much but I admired her because she never let up, she was always willing to try.

As a romance read, I will admit that this wasn’t what I had expected, it and they played by their own rules and that lead to some situations that were more than a little bit edgy. When they were totally on song, I was totally on board with the pair of them and their relationship but I will say that they weren’t always singing from the same hymn sheet at times and that made for some pretty interesting decision making, I shook my head a little more than I wanted too at the pair of them.

Oh, but I do have to say that when it comes to Austin’s brothers, I cannot wait to see what the author has in store for them, they are far from ordinary and I have no doubt that they will have plenty to say for themselves.

I look forward to the rest of the series.
