Straight off the bat, I have to say that this was a thoroughly enjoyable read, I’ve now noticed from other reviews that one of the characters – Eloise is included in a previous work by the author but as I haven’t read it, I can honestly say that this stood well on its own.
Eloise is in the US to study, the daughter of an actor, she understands what it is like to be caught up in the lifestyle of the rich, but it hasn’t always been that way, her father struggled for years before finding success and she remembers clearly life before the glitz that her fathers fame and fortune have brought to her life. Looking for normality meant that she craved a chance to just be herself and that meant that she was really to spread her wings…hence college in Vermont. Maybe there she could just be Eloise.
Life at college was always going to be different but that didn’t mean she wasn’t ready for it, she was well equipped to deal with everything that being away from home and in an unfamiliar environment brought to her and that included the attention of the guys on campus. But she wasn’t ready to deal with Colton…I’m not sure anyone would have been.
Colton had it all, he was the popular, handsome baseball star who was as bit a pit off the field as he was on it. But this was a guy with more going on beneath the surface, he had issues and expectations that meant that change wasn’t a consideration at the moment. But would that change once he met Eloise?
I liked Colton, not that I didn’t like Eloise, but he had a little more substance t him for my liking, he had his secrets and he also had a long journey to travel to get to where he wanted to be. When Eloise gave him the cold shoulder or brush off whatever you want to call it I was silently praying that she would take a closer look and see that there was more to this guy that just the BS lines that he was churning out.
Colton knew that Eloise was different but was she different enough for him to change his ways? Or was she different enough for him to let her in on what he kept so carefully guarded against the rest of the world?
I really hoped so…Did he? Well, you need to read the book to find that out, but rest assured you will not be disappointed!!!
As expected from this author this was an engaging read, fantastic character development and beautifully written.
