Hold onto your hats and anything else you might feel appropriate ladies because this might not be all sweetness and light but it will knock you on you’re a** and leave you with a book hangover that you won’t shake easily because you can’t help but think just how hard and harsh you would be willing to fight for the person that holds your heart strings?
Brew and Addy were far from perfect and their story isn’t exactly sugar coated, there were aspects of the book that were really difficult to read and for some readers that might push all sort of buttons so if non-consensual sex and violence upset you, perhaps you should proceed with caution. I won’t say don’t read on because I think there is a lot to be learnt by challenging yourself but that is up to you, so this is just a word of caution.
Brew and Addy both met and parted way in the first book and we got almost an abbreviated description of what was going on with the two of them but now, it is all laid out. Every last horrid details of the past, the horrors and heartache that lies at the core of their relationship, the demons that are scratching away at their souls trying to keep their happiness curtailed but will they fight for what they need and want or will the pain be too much?
The emotional trip that this couple take is nothing short of exceptional. The fight that Brew has in him for the woman that has stolen his heart, his blind desire to protect her at all costs was beautiful and I loved the fact that I could enjoy his dedication.
With so many twists and turns, I found the book difficult to put down although at times I had no choice but to lay it aside and take some time out. For me, the story was hard to take in huge chunks but it was addictive.
Be warned you will snivel, you will cry, you will curse but you will also laugh so grab some tissues and maybe a bottle of something strong and settle in.
