Reginald Bones Part Three
By Lucian Bane
My very last nerve, my very last emotion…shredded!
I shook my head when I read the last word, not sure at whether I will actually ever be the same again. I feel fundamentally changed, the whole series so far has left its mark and at this time I’m not sure that I have anything to say other than…wow!
I run the full range of emotions with not only this book but the previous two but have finished knowing that I have laughed, cried and caved…my heart is a different place, I have a view that had been forever altered and all because on every talent author is able to show me how to take a closer look at the world and a situation that left to my own devices I would never have had any connection with.
I know some may say that it is only fiction but fiction colours perception and works like this leave an indelible impression they leave a legacy and I think that this is what I take away from Reginal Bones ( so far), a legacy of acceptance.
I really don’t want to go into the story because I just know that I will give something away that I shouldn’t and I actually don’t feel like I need to say anything about the story other than the cloud of darkness that hangs over Bones and Winter is one that will linger long in your subconscious.
They have to get to grips with the fact that despite their animosity (and that is putting it mildly) they have both lost someone they care about now that Reggie is no longer with them, but can they see past the pain and understand that what they need to get from the situation is the fact they need each other or is that a step too far?
I like the fact that the author peppered the story, (which doesn’t just verge on being dark, nope not at all it has both feet firmly planted on the dark side of this particular moon) with moments that brought out the lighter side of their characters, he gave them their time in the sunshine and showed them to be as “normal” as you and I in many respects. Anyway who is completely normal???
There were other characters in the story that had their own element of importance but the less I say about that the better, you will see what I mean when you read the book.
Oh and one word of warning…. this is not the end, there is more to come and as you might suspect that meant that this finished as only Lucian Bane could …with a mental cliff-hanger!
