Come A Little Closer

by Kim Karr

The book told the story of Sadie Banks and Jaxon Cassidy, a couple that probably shouldn’t have worked but that was destined to play a huge part in each other’s lives, destined to mend the heartache that they both seemed to be imbibed by.
Recently having lost her job, Sadie was on the brink of something, not entirely sure whether that was a good or bad thing, she was at least hoping for something good to be coming her way after all life can’t be all bad, can it…well, you would hope not but with a past that was refusing to stay where it belonged, namely firmly behind her she was facing an uphill struggle just to feel anything for life, let alone enthusiasm.
Photographer Jaxon wasn’t exactly fairing much better,  well that isn’t entirely true …at least he had a plan. He was ready to get his feet wet having made the decision to sell up and strike out on his own. Although I must admit, I don’t know that I would have been willing to take the official photos at my ex-fiancée’s wedding to her new guy, but that’s just me I suppose.
I can’t say that I was particularly enamoured with Sadie initially she si a character that took me a while to get my head around, she doesn’t exactly do what I would either want or expect her to do but by the time I got to grips with not only who by why she was the way she was I understood the woman and by that time I was so far over my head with Jaxon that if he loved her then that was enough for me.
For Jaxon though, I got him from the very start, I understood his plan, the fact that there was an opportunity to take the bull by the horns for him and if everything works out, he may just be on the road to the career that he has always wanted…but nothing ever runs smooth, does it and that is what Ms Karr does best, yep, yep I hear you say she writes some gloriously romantic scenes and some that will get you all hot and bother but she also writes stories that are so rich in detail, that never take the straight and narrow path and that keep you guessing right up until they don’t, and I love that. She holds her secrets well and ensures that all is revealed just when it needs to be and not a second before and that is what as a reader I want from a story.
There were twists and turns that I didn’t expect and situations that only helped to solidify the fact that I think I want a Jaxon of my own.
Am I going to give you deals…hummmmmmmmmm…that would be a no! because you need to read this for yourself
